When you think of "farm raised," you think of fresh produce and animals. But what about farm-raised humans?

"Farm Raised" is a documentary by Filming for Charity that takes you inside Roots Charter High School in Salt Lake City, Utah—a place that is reimagining education for students who have fallen through the cracks.

In a system where "one size fits all" often leaves at-risk youth behind, Roots Charter High School does things differently. Led by Director Tyler Bastion and his incredible team, the school uses a working farm to teach real-life skills, character development, and perhaps most importantly, healing.

CHANGING LIVES, ONE FILM AT A TIME

About Filming for Charity

Filming for Charity was born out of a shared passion for visual storytelling and a deep desire to support those who are actively serving others. As filmmakers, Willie Herath, Joey Ingelhart, and J. Troy Beatty realized that many incredible organizations doing life-changing work lack the resources to effectively share their impact with the world. Whether documenting community outreach at local charter schools in the Salt Lake City area or traveling to capture international humanitarian efforts in places like Niger, Mexico, Uganda, and Guatemala, we have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of a well-crafted narrative. We decided to leverage our professional production experience to give these causes a voice. Our ongoing commitment is to produce six high-quality documentaries each year and provide them at absolutely no cost to the selected charities. By translating their vital work into compelling films, we aim to create a donation multiplier effect; helping them reach broader audiences, secure crucial funding, and ultimately change more lives.
